The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is going to prepare a repository of the best practices across the RMG industry by collecting pictures, information and story from factories.
In a statement, the BGMEA said in its effort to build a positive image of the ready-made garment industry has decided to capture the best practices in the garment factories.
Over the past decade, a paradigm shift has happened in the industry in the area of safety and sustainability; particularly the efforts to ensure wellbeing of the workers by the factories are unparallel and often remain untold.
While the industry is making so much of efforts for the betterment of the workers, community and environment, the misperception about the industry still exists which can be cleared by sharing the amazing stories of good practices.
With this view in mind, BGMEA is going to prepare a repository of the best practices across the RMG industry by collecting pictures, information and story from factories.
A few examples of the good practices are Occupation Health and Safety, Worker and Management Relations, Special Benefits to Workers Beyond Labor Law, Women Empowerment, Innovative initiative for improvement of Working and Living Conditions for Workers, Worker’s Idea for Factory Improvement, Skills & Productivity Development, Employment of Disables, Water & Energy Efficiency, Waste Management & Green Innovation, Special Initiative for Environmental Sustainability, use of modern technologies, automation, etc.
Besides, there may be many more areas where our factories are making outstanding efforts we are not aware of.
We are planning to use these images and information to conduct branding campaign and road-shows for our industry. You would be happy to know that we have planned for a dedicated photo gallery in BGMEA’s headquarters in Uttara where these pictures will be displayed.
Moreover, we will organize photo exhibition of our RMG industry (and on our heritage, which I will share in detail in my next email) at home and abroad. We have also decided to prepare a coffee table book with these stories titled ‘101 Best Practices in the RMG industry of Bangladesh’.
To make this initiative successful, we need your kind support and cooperation. We humbly encourage and request all of our Honorable Members to kindly inform us about the good practices you are doing (exemplary initiatives beyond compliance and law).
Kindly let us know the information by March 20, 2022.
The selected good practice will be captured through photo-shoot and a brief interview with the respective persons at the factories. We will schedule factory visits for this purpose at later dates with your kind cooperation.
