The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Deshifarmer Limited signed a Memorandum of Understating (MoU) to provide garment workers with fresh produce collected directly from farmers at fair prices.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan and Chairman of Deshifarmer Limited Sumaiyah Mousinin inked the agreement on behalf of their respective sides at BGMEA’s PR office at Gulshan in the capital recently, reports BSS.
As per the MoU, Deshifarmer, a tech-based supply chain for fresh produce, will deliver farmers’ fresh produce to canteens, grocery shops and the workers of registered member factories of BGMEA, said a press release recently. The objective is to ensure that garment workers get the best food in best price while farmers also get the fair price of their produces, thus benefitting both parties.
