The BGMEA Cup Football tournament begins tomorrow (Thursday) at International Turkish Hope School (ITHS) ground in the city.
This is the second edition of the 7-a-side inter-garments football tournament. The tournament will be played on each weekend only and the final of the tournament is slated on March 24 at the Bangladesh Army Stadium.
The tournament is organized by Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Leo Entertainment Sports Management.
Sixteen renowned garments of the country – Bando Design Ltd (Champion 2016), Comfit Composite Knit Ltd Of Youth Group (Runner-Up 2016), Epyllion Group, Ananta Group, Rayontex Group, Nassa Group, Setara Group, Majumder Group, Babylon Group, Sterling Group, Versatile Group, Mehnaz Styles & Craft, Interstoff Apparel, Torque Fashions, Musk Trousers, Apparel Industry -split into four groups will compete in the meet.
Among the sponsors and partners are United Commercial Bank Ltd, Prime Bank Ltd, JUKI, Sailor, Rising Group, Sterling Stocks and Securities Ltd, BUFT, Amaze Power, New Auto Galaxy, Vertex Group, BBS Cables, Ananta Group, Mampower, Ceylon Biscuits Ltd, A.C World, Qubee and ITHS.
BGMEA president Siddiqur Rahman disclosed the details and unveiled the trophy during a press conference held on Tuesday at Apparel Club, BGMEA Complex.
BGMEA vice-president Finance Mohammed Nasir, BGMEA vice-president Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, ITHS chairman Bedrittin Suata and Leo Entertainment managing director Reazur Rahman, were among others, present on the occasion.
