BGMEA calls on Intertek to share progress of RMG sector

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) called on Intertek to share the progress made in the country’s readymade garment (RMG) industry with the buyers, according to a press release. The apparel apex body-BGMEA on Tuesday made the request when a delegation of Intertek led by Sandeep Das, regional managing director – South Asia, paid a courtesy call on its President Faruque Hassan at the latter’s office in Gulshan, according to a statement. Intertek is a British multinational assurance, inspection, products testing and certification company headquartered in London.
They had discussions over issues pertaining to the apparel industry of Bangladesh, global market situation, demand, and trends, added the statement. They talked about how Intertek could play a more important role in addressing consumers’ need for safety and product quality in line with international and domestic regulations. How Intertek could better support garment factories in Bangladesh to ensure their products adhere to the highest safety standards, and also remain globally competitive were also discussed.
