Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mesbahuddin assures for establishing a garments village in Chittagong . He expressed his views to the newly elected office bearers of BGMEA, Chittagong Chapter while paid courtesy call on Deputy commissioner on Tuesday .
A team of BGMEA led by its newly elected first vice President Moinuddin Ahmed Minto paid courtesy call on Deputy commissioner at latter’s office .
BGMEA leader Moinuddin Ahmed in the views exchanging with Deputy commissioner said from very inception of the garments industries , 40% garments products exported from Chittagong belt now it comes down to 9% .
He also opined that there is no alternative of garments village in Chittagong to overcome the situation .
BGMEA leaders proposed for establishing a garments village in outskirts of the city on khas lands and some unused land of City Corporation.
BGMEA leaders hoped to share the 50 billion dollars export target from RMG sector by the govt by next 2011 .
Deputy commissioner gave patient hearing to the proposals of the BGMEA leaders and assured all possible help for establishing garments village.
Among others, Vice president Md. Ferdous, Director Mahbub Chowdhury, former Director Helaluddin, Cthittagong Chamber Director Mahfuzul Hoque Shah were present on the occasion.
