T20 Cricket: BGC Trust University emerge champions

An all-round performance by Lipon Kumar enabled BGC Trust University to clinch the Dokhina First Inter-University T20 Cricket Tournament title beating Premier University by 77 runs in the final at the Divisional Women’s Sports complex here on Tuesday.
Chittagong Divisional Sports Association (CDSA) Vice President Alhaj Ali Abbas and CDSA general secretary Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir distributed the champion’s trophy to BGC Trust University.
In the day’s final, BGC Trust University batted first after winning the toss and scored 167 runs for the loss of eight wickets in stipulated 20 overs.
Lipon Kumar hammered 65, Shakil 30, Tara Charan 21, Ashok 18 and Jashim 12 runs for the champions.
Rana grabbed three wickets for 32 runs while Sanif took two for 19 runs.
In reply, Premier University were bundled out cheaply for 90 runs in 17.1 overs with Moazzem making 24, Farhan 14, Sanif 11 and Imdadul 10 runs.
Lipon Kumar, who scored 65 runs, also displayed his brilliance in bowling taking two wickets for 7 runs and was adjudged man of the final to receive a cash award of Tk 3,000.
Besides, Zafar claimed three wickets for 14 runs while Atiq and Zayed took two wickets each conceding 6 and 27 runs respectively.
In a place deciding match, Southern University finished 3rd in the tournament beating Islami University by 29 runs at the same venue on Tuesday.
Souther University opened the innings first winning the toss and scored a moderate 158 for 7 in reduced 18 overs with Irfan Sukkur scoring 49, Sajjadul Haque 44, Akib 17, Kamrul 15 and Kamrul 11 runs.
Later, Irfan Sukkur was adjudged the best player of the match while
Sajjadul Haque named as the best player of the tournament to receive prize money of Tk 5,000.
Sajib captured four wickets for 36 runs, Habib took two for 24 runs.
In reply, Islami University folded their innings at 129 runs for 6 in curtailed 18 overs with Miraj making 55 and Sadiqur 46 runs.
Kamrul picked-up two wickets for 22 runs.
