BGB’s air wing from June 5

The air wing of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will formally be introduced on June 5 this year to facilitate the country’s lone paramilitary force to strengthen its capacity to conduct operation in the remote areas.
“BGB has now one helicopter while two more will be added in the fleet and the air wing will formally start functioning from June 5,” Director General (DG) of BGB Major General Aziz said told a press briefing at the force’s headquarters here on Thursday.
The BGB chief also informed the media of starting Simanto Bank from July next.
Highlighting success of the force in the last five months, he said, “BGB personnel have so far arrested 766 persons on charges of smuggling and 12, 264 cases have so far been lodged during the period.”
A total of 39 pistols, 23 guns and 3,915 rounds of bullet have been seized in the last five months, he also said.
