Border Guard Bangladesh men on Tuesday night seized rawhide worth Tk 50 lakh raiding an area at Katakhal under Jhikargachha upazila in Jessore, Lt Col Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer, 26 Border Guard Battalion said.
The BGB official told newsmen that tipped off the GBG men raided Katakhal area under Jhikargachha upazila at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday and seized huge quantities of rawhides including 5,500 of cow and 3,000 pieces of goat challenging a truck heading towards Chhutipur frontier.
But a source of the rawhide traders claimed that BGB men was given wrong information as demanded money of extortionist was not given.
The BGB denied the claims.
The hide was deposited to Jessore customs along with the truck, the BGB said.
