BGB seizes gold bars in Jessore

Border Guard Bangladesh men on Thursday noon seized at total of 1.1 kilograms of gold bars raiding Boalia area under Benapole port police station after arresting a youth, said Lt Col Matiur Rahman, director, 26 Border Guard Battalion.
The arrested is Abu Bakkar, 35, a resident of Ghiba village under Benapole port police station.
Talking to New Nation, Lt Col Matiur Rahman said tipped off the BGB men seized a total of 10 gold bars weighed 1.1 kilogram searching the body of Abu Bakkar. ‘ The gold bars were being smuggled to India,’ he added.
The BGB men in seperate drives seized smuggled Indian goods worth Tk 1.5 million from bordering areas, the BGB official said.
