Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized illegal drugs worth Taka 88 crore 24 lakh 53 thousand by conducting operations in the border areas of the country and other places in December 2020.
The seized drugs include 10 lakh 26 thousand 610 pieces of yaba tablets, 70 thousand 13 bottles of phensidyl, 21 thousand 747 bottles of foreign liquor, 1 thousand 408 cans of beer, 1 thousand 423 kg of cannabis, 6 kg and 2 g of heroin, 11 thousand 97 stimulant injections, 18 thousand 485 Anegra and Senegra tablets and 12 lakh 9 thousand 265 other tablets.
Other smuggled goods include 12 kg 977g gold, 14 kg 344 g silver, 1,033 imitation jewelry, 54,304 cosmetics, 5,954 saris, 663 three pieces and shirt pieces, 3,648 readymade garments, 343 meters of cloth. 5,198 cubic feet of timber, 3,792 kg of tea leaves, 2,610 kg of coal, 1 truck, 12 private cars, 8 pickups, 21 CNG and engine driven autorickshaws and 88 motorcycles.
The weapons recovered included a pistol, 14 shotguns and 959 rounds of ammunition.
In addition, legal action has been taken against 283 smugglers and 173 Bangladeshis and 8 Indians for illegally crossing the border for being involved in various types of drug trafficking and smuggling, including yaba.
