BGB seizes drugs, smuggling goods worth Tk 737.93cr in 2020

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized different kinds of smuggling and narcotic products worth Tk 737.93 crore by conducting many drives in different places including the border areas of the country from January to December of 2020.
On Sunday, according to a press release signed by Mohammad Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of BGB confirmed the news to the media saying that BGB was able to seize various kinds of smuggling and drugs worth Tk 737.93 crore from the bordering areas and other places of the country.
Among the seized drugs, there were 1,08,89,849 pieces of yaba, 5,35,869 bottles of phensedyl, 1,15,799 bottles of foreign liquors,6,339 litter Bangla liquors, 22kg heroin, 64,189 pieces of stimulant tablet, 46,621 ampoules of drug injection and 30,24,009 other tablets.
During the drives, the paramilitary force also seized 87kg of gold, 217kg of silver, 33,366 pieces of saris, 14,9,67 readymade garments, 21,487 metres of plain cloth, 9,50,595 cft wood, 38,29,430 kg tea leaves and others things.
Earlier in December, BGB seized illegal drugs worth Tk88.24 crore and legal action was taken against 283 smugglers and 173 Bangladeshis and eight Indians for illegally crossing the border for their involvement in various types of drug trafficking and smuggling.
