Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) in its countrywide drive last month recovered a huge quantity of smuggled goods and contraband items worth Taka 85.83 crore, said an official press release.
BGB also detained 107 people for their alleged involvement in drug smuggling and 76 Bangladeshi nationals for illegal crossing of Bangladesh territory.
The seized smuggled goods and contraband items included: 13,57,635 pieces of yaba tablets, 22,908 bottles of phensidyl, 2.318 kilograms of heroin, 919 kg of cannabis, 8,131 bottles of foreign liquor, 1,39,162 pieces of sex-stimulating tablets, and 16,55,510 other tablets during the period.
Some 9951 pieces of sharees, 2.117 kg gold, 3163 three pieces, 2056 metre clothes, and 1759 pieces of readymade garments, were seized in January last.
The para-military force also seized two pistols, 10 rounds of bullets and four magazines.
