Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Police moved into the final of the EXIM Bank 25th National Men’s Handball Competition on Tuesday.
BGB will face Police in the final at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium today at 3.00 pm.
In the day’s first semifinal, BGB defeated Chittagong district team by 38-10 goals after completing the first session with a 25-9 goals lead at the same venue.
Mehedi Hasan of BGB scored eight goals and his teammate Sudhan Barua netted seven goals while Newton Das, Sumon Saha and Mesbahuddin pulled off two for the losers.
In the day’s second semifinal, Bangladesh Police beat Bangladesh Ansar by 53-38 goals after finishing the first half with a 32-15 goals lead.
Mahbubul Alam of Bangladesh Police scored 20 goals and his colleague Shohag Hossain netted 12 goals while Sayeedur Rahman of Bangladesh Ansar scored 12 goals and his teammate Asadul Islam netted 10 goals.
Md Abu Kaisar of Chittagong district team retired from his playing life on Tuesday.
After the final match, Managing Director of EXIM Bank Limited Dr Mohammad Haidar Ali Mia will distribute the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
President of Bangladesh Handball Federation AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul will preside over the prize-giving ceremony.
