A member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) died while on duty at the fifth upazila parishad election in Bagharpara upazila of Jashore district on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam (50), son of Ariful Islam. He was the Naib Subedar of BGB’s Jessore 49 Battalion.

BGB officials said that he died on Saturday night due to chest pain around 11 pm. He was taken to Baghparpara Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him dead.
Baghparpara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mizanur Rahman said that the BGB team came to Baghparpara on Friday for the purpose of maintaining law and order in and around the fifth upazila parishad polling centre. on Sunday. The team member passed night in auditorium of the Upazila Parishad.
When he felt pain in his chest at 11 pm, he was taken to Baghparpara Upazila Health Complex, but doctor declared him dead.
