Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) emerged as the champions of the EXIM Bank 26th National (Men’s) Handball Championship defeating Bangladesh Police by 31-22 goals in the final at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Thursday.
The winners led the first half 15-5.
Khaeruzzaman of BGB scored seven goals and his teammate Abdus Sattar netted six goals.
On the other hand, Mahbub Alam of Bangladesh Police, the runners-up of the meet scored nine goals and his teammate Sohag netted six goals.
Khaeruzzaman of BGB was adjudged the player of the Tournament.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Ansar finished third beating Jessore district team by 45-25 goals at the same venue on the same day.
After the final match, President of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest, while Secretary of National Sports Council (NSC) Ashoke Kumar Biswas was with him as the special guest.
Vice-President of BHF and Chairman of the Tournament Committee Md Hasan Ullah Khan Rana, General Secretary of the BHF Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Assistant General Secretary of the Federation Md Nurul Islam, Assistant General Secretary of the Federation Khalequzzaman Shapon were present at the time.
