Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) emerged as the champions of the EXIM Bank 25th National Men’s Handball Championship when they beat Bangladesh Police by 35-29 goals in the final at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Wednesday.
The winners led the first half 17-13.
Mir Khairuzzaman of BGB scored eight goals and his teammate Sudhan Barua netted five goals while Mahbubul Haque and Chinu Mong of Bangladesh Police scored nine goals each.
Imdadul Haque of BGB was adjudged the Player of the Tournament.
After the final match, Managing Director of EXIM Bank Limited Dr Mohammad Haidar Ali Mia distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
Vice-President of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) Quamrun Nahar Dana, Vice-President of BHF Hasan Ullah Khan Rana, General Secretary of the Federation Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Assistant General Secretary of BHF Nurul Islam, Assistant General Secretary of BHF SM Khalequzzaman Shawpon and Member of the Executive Committee of BHF Md Selim Mia were present at the prize-giving ceremony.
