Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) destroyed huge drugs worth Tk 7 crore here on Friday. BGB teams from battalion 5 and 41 seized various kinds of drugs from bordering areas in Sylhet and Sunamganj districts from January to June this year.The seized contraband drugs were reduced to ruins in a ceremony at BGB battalion-5 headquarters at Akhalia in the city in the morning.The destroyed drugs include 43413 bottles of liquor, 9205 bottles of beer, 772 bottles of Phensidylsyrup, 328 litres of local liquor and 12kg hemp.Presided over by BGB battalion-5 commanding officer Lt Col Syed Majharul Islam, BGB Director General Maj Gen Aziz Ahmed attended the programme as the chief guest.
