Joynal Abedin Khan :In the wake of deteriorating law and order situation, the government has deployed the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in 23 more districts, apart from the divisional Headquarters.The BGB personnel already started patrolling some risky points of the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway, specially part of Comilla from Tuesday evening.Commander of BGB-10 posted in Comilla said that about five platoons of BGB personnel will be on alert from Chouddagram to Daudkandi Highway toll Plaza to ensure highest security to passenger carrying buses and goods laden trucks on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway.Apart from it, the BGB men also have taken control of Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar Highway to ensure smooth communication with the South-East part of the country. Around 4,200 BGB members will be patrolling the districts during the blockade, Major General Aziz Ahmed, the Director General (DG) of the BGB, told the New Nation on Tuesday. The BGB personnel will also be deployed across the country after getting government instruction to avert any unwanted situation, he added. The 23 districts are Dhaka, Rajshahi, Lakkhipur, Chadpur, Nilphamari, Bogra, Noakhali, Meherpur, Khulna, Narayanganj, Kushtia, Natore, Kurigram, Brahmanbaria, Joypurhat, Gazipur, Cox’s Bazar, Chapainawabganj, Chittagong, Pabna, Rajbari, Kishoreganj and Satkhira. Meanwhile, the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) authorities have suspended the entrance of visitors considering the security reasons in the airport area.The authorities concerned have taken the decision following the recent political unrest and violence in the country, said Moshiur Rahman, Duty Officer and Sub-Inspector of the HSIA.The restriction, however, has been imposed along with the deployment of additional forces in a bid to beef up security in the area, he said.The airport authorities have imposed the rule of restriction on entrance or access for any visitor to ensure the security of incoming and outgoing passengers, Intelligence sources said.
