Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) on Sunday expressed deep concern over a report published in the Daily Manabzamin on 5th December under the headline ‘Scratcher BSS ‘.
The report reveals a severe financial crisis at the state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) caused by relentless irregularities corruption and whimsical decision of Managing Director and defalcation of public fund.
In a joint statement BFUJ President Ruhul Amin Gazi, Secretary General M Abdullah, DUJ President Kader Gani Chowdhury and General Secretary Mohammad Shahidul Islam said.
“The BSS management has been committing criminal offence for a long by spending money from gratuity and provident funds to meet unauthorized expenditures. As a result, the retired BSS journalists and employees are not getting retirement dues on time and as per laws .”
The union leaders demanded quick investigation into the alleged corruption at BSS through the ACC and Information Ministry.
