City Desk :
Leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) on Friday condemned attack on Ekattor Television special correspondent Farzana Rupa in the United Kingdom (UK).
In a statement, BFUJ President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Secretary General Omar Faruque expressed concerns and said Rupa was injured by some anti-Bangladesh forces in Newcastle.
Rupa is now in the UK to cover the Commonwealth summit, the leaders said, adding that she is also covering the anti-Bangladesh activities of Jamaat-Shibir in Britain.
The Jamaat-Shibir activists wanted to kill Rupa, but failed and they snatched her camera and tripod from the spot, the BFUJ leaders said.
They urged the UK police to ensure security of Rupa and to recover her snatched belongings from the attackers.
They hoped that the British police would arrest the culprits as soon as possible.
