BFUJ calls for implementation of 8-point demand

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) yesterday demanded amendment to the 9th wage board award, its implementation and enactment of mass media employees’
conditions act immediately.
During a human-chain programme at the National Press Club, the apex body of journalists urged the government and the owners of mass media to accept the eight-point demands of journalists to restore discipline in the media industry.
Speaking during the human-chain programme, BFUJ President Omar Faruque said the 8-point programmes have already become the core demands of journalist community and if not implemented, the journalists will be bound to take to the streets.
The same programme was also observed by 10 federating unions across the country, said a press release.
BFUJ President Omar Faruque chaired the programme while BFUJ Secretary General Dip Azad conducted it. BFUJ’s former President Manzurul Ahsan Bulbul, DUJ General Secretary Sazzad Alam Khan Tapu, DUJ’s former General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury, BFUJ’s Treasurer Khairuzzaman Kamal, Executive Committee Members Ummul Wara Sweety, Noore Jannat Seema, DUJ’s Vice-President MA Kuddus, Organising Secretary a Zihadur Rahman Zihad, Office Secretary Jannatul Ferdous Chowdhury, Sub-Editors’ Council General Secretary Abul Hasan Rhidai and TCA President Mahbub Alam, among others, spoke on the occasion. Next course of programmes will be launched from the meeting of the executive committee on January 15, said the press release.
