UNB, Dhaka :
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday urged the country’s Islamic scholars to beware so that no one from other faiths could infiltrate into the Muslim community and create difference among the Muslims for instigating anarchy in Bangladesh.
She made the call while addressing a function, marking the 39th founding anniversary of the Islamic Foundation at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city.
On this day (March 22) in 1975, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman inaugurated the activities of the Islamic Foundation.
Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matiur Rahman presided over the function organised by the Islamim Foundation. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was present as the special guest.
Sheikh Hasina said, many Islamic countries across the globe are engaged in fighting each other or the Muslims of an Islamic country are fighting among themselves. “Who are the instigators? Who are the beneficiaries?”
She said that, in the recent times, these people wanted to create anarchy in Bangladesh. “But they had failed miserably as the government took timely steps.”
Reminding that their ‘ill motives are still alive’, the Prime Minister urged the Islamic scholars of the country to remain alert in this regard and said that those engaged in killing, terrorism and militancy have no religion.
Terming Bangladesh as a Muslim majority country, she said that the country will be run as per the Madinah Charter and the last sermon and directives of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
“There will be no law against Holy Quran and Sunnah here ever,” she assured the Islamic scholars of the county.
Hasina mentioned that the government stated clearly in the Women Policy that if any international law has anything against Quran and Sunnah it will not be applicable in Bangladesh.
About the trial of the war criminals, she said that according to the Islamic law, a killer will be beheaded for his/her crime.
She said that, in 1971, husband was killed in front of his wife, brother was killed in front of his sister, parents were killed in front their children, and mother, sister and wife were raped in front of their children, brother and husband. “They are demanding punishment of the culprits.”
