A betel leaf grower was hacked to death by miscreants at Baliarampur village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Minarul Islam, 36, son of Khaksar Biswas of the village. Locals said Minarul went to his betel leaf garden around 6 pm and found some people collecting betel leaves. As he protested the incident, the miscreants hacked him with sharp weapons, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Meherpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
