Besiktas forward Cyle Larin scored a second-half brace as Canada beat Haiti 4-1 in their Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Gold Cup match on Thursday.
Stephen Eustaquio opened the scoring for Canada with a curling 30-yard free-kick that left goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre with no chance.
Larin then lashed a first-time effort into the bottom left corner following Tajon Buchanan’s darting run and cut back from the left byline. Haiti reduced the deficit when Derrick Etienne picked out Stephane Lambese, who took a touch before blasting an unstoppable shot past Maxime Crepeau from the edge of the six-yard box.
Larin doubled his personal tally by converting from the penalty spot after Richie Laryea was fouled by Alex Christian.
Haiti’s night went from bad to worse when Francois Dulysse was shown a straight red card for bringing down Ayo Akinola in the penalty area with 12 minutes left.
David Hoilett tucked away the spot-kick as Canada made it two wins from as as many matches in the tournament. Haiti are last in Group B, having yet to secure a point.
