Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) requested Chinese entrepreneurs to invest more in the EPZs of Bangladesh. He made this appeal during a meeting with A-20 member delegation of China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Light Industrial Products and Arts-Crafts at BEPZA Executive office, Dhaka recently, said a press release.
Delegates of the biggest national light industrial organization in China led by its Vice-President Zhang Jie visited BEPZA Complex on Thursday. They showed their keen interest to invest in the EPZs of Bangladesh during this time.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohd Habibur Rahman Khan ndc, psc, said that Bangladesh are the best place to invest. But due to scarcity of land it is not possible to accommodate large scale investment at the EPZ located in Dhaka and Chittagong regions, he added. He urged the delegates to invest in Uttara, Mongla & Ishwardi EPZ and mentioned that these three EPZs are the ideal place to set up light industrial products & arts- crafts like ornaments, houseware, camping item, bags, luggage, wigs, stationary products etc. He informed the delegation that presently 94 Chinese enterprises are operating in EPZs and invested around US$ 816 million where over 110 thousand are working.
