BEPZA exceeds investment, export, employment target

Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) crossed investment, export and employment target in 2016-17 fiscal year, said a press release.
During the last FY, BEPZA gained investment US$ 343.71 million, the operating enterprises of eight EPZs exported goods worth US$ 6549.37 million and created employment opportunities for 26,638 Bangladeshi nationals.
As per the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) of FY 17, signed between BEPZA and Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the target was fixed at US$ 300 million in investment, US$ 6200 million in export earnings and generated employment opportunities for 25,000 Bangladeshi nationals.
464 industries are operating and 127 under implementation in BEPZA as on June 2017. At the end of the FY 17, the cumulative investment of BEPZA stood at US$ 4341.25 million and exported goods worth US$ 59,366.85 million.
4,79,181 Bangladeshi nationals are producing world famous brand items in the eight EPZs of Bangladesh.
