Benfica scored four goals in the last 15 minutes to beat Arouca 4-0 at home on Sunday and keep its lead in the Portuguese league.
Also, FC Porto beat visitors Braga 2-1 to move into second place and break a run of three straight draws in league play.
Arouca resisted until Talisca broke through with a goal in the 75th minute.
Fellow Brazilians Derly and Jonas then scored goals on either side of Eduardo Salvio’s strike to complete the rout.
Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi opened in the 24th. Ze Luis leveled for Braga in the 32nd, but substitute Juan Quintero went on in the 45th and scored Porto’s winner in the 57th.
