Bangladesh’s premier land port Benapole has collected five percent more revenue than its target in the first six months of the current fiscal.
The NBR had set a target of more than Tk 11.5 billion for Benapole in the July-December period.
Benapole’s Customs officer Golam Kibria said they had realised over Tk 12 billion in that period.
The land port’s Clearing and Forwarding (C&F) Agents’ Association chief Mofizur Rahman attributed the increase to increased import of high-taxed goods.
Benapole Customs Commissioner Mohammad Mahabubuzzaman said the port had a business-friendly environment.
“Both the Customs officials and C&F businesses are trying to increase the revenue,” he said.
