Department of English of Comilla University (CoU) in collaboration with Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association (BELTA), initiated a one-day workshop titled “BELTA-CoU-English Language Teaching Workshop 2018” with the theme ‘Innovative Practices in English Classroom’.
This is for the first time such a large-scale educational event is being successfully organized by the Department. A brief-but-colorful inaugural ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Arts Faculty’s auditorium room with Prof Dr Emran Kabir Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of CoU as Chief Guest. Special Guest Dr. ZM Monirruzzaman, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, CoU, the ceremony was featured by BELTA Chief Advisor of Comilla Chapter Ali Rezwan Talukdar. Head of the English Department Jahidul Alam also spoke on the occasion.
The main purpose of this event is to develop creativity and classroom management of English teachers. Therefore, the speakers rightly stressed the urgency of efficient teacher development programs in order to produce quality English teachers at all levels of the country so that they can, in turn, produce proficient bilingual workforce for our country.
