Xinhua, Minsk :
Belarus received 200 million U.S. dollars as the sixth tranche of the loan from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD), Belarusian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) that manages the funds of the EFSD transferred the 200 million dollars loan to Belarus, the ministry said.
Taking into account the previous tranches, Belarus received 1.8 billion out of the 2 billion dollars loan to support domestic reforms.
Belarus signed an agreement for 2 billion dollars loan from the EFSD in March 2016. The loan must be granted in seven tranches during the 2016-2018 period.
The EFSD, instituted by the governments of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, is tasked with providing assistance for the member states in overcoming consequences of the global financial crisis, ensuring their economic and financial stability, and supporting the integration process in the region.
The EDB is an international financial institution established in 2006. It now has six member states, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
