BEIOA organises skill development training

Skilled Manpower can boost economy: Around 9,000 workers to be trained within 3 years

Bangladesh Engineering Industry Owners Association (BEIOA) has taken ‘skills for employment investment program (SEIP)`with a view to developing skills of its workers.
The Government along with Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Switzerland Government will finance the project.
The aim of the project is to train-up around 9000 persons under 8 courses including Master Craftsmanship. On the occasion of concluding some training courses certificates were distributed on Tuesday. The programme was held at the auditorium of BEIOA in the city.
JasimUddin, Director of FBCCI and the President of Bangladesh Plastic Association graced the occasion as the chief guest. Alhaj Md.Islam Uddin, Adviser of BEIOA was present as the special guest.
Md.AbdurRazzak, President of BEIOA presided over the programme. High officials of the project and the business people of the sector attended the program.
It is expected that through these training courses production capacity and the quality of products will be increased. It may be mentioned that currently there are 4000 Light Engineering Industries in the Country and the contribution of this sector to the GDP is more than 2 per cent.
Addressing the function, Jasim Uddin said that the BEIOA is playing very important role in the development of the SME sector. The SEIP courses will help the workers developing their skill, he also added.
Md.AbdurRazzak, President of BEIOA said, the public- private partnership program will fulfill the future demand of the skilled workforce in the light engineering sector.
“It will also facilitate the continuing efforts of building Bangladesh a middle income country”, he said.
Around 2million workers are currently involved in light engineering industry, he informed.
Chief Coordinator of the SEIP project Mir Muniruzzaman said, the ‘Skills for Employment Investment Program’ is aimed to fulfill the demand of trained workers, which will also help in increased export earnings.
Women, tribal and the underprivileged group will get priority in the courses. After successful completion, around 70per cent trainee will be provided job under the project, he declared.
