BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has said that Rohingya problem has not been resolved, because of the government’s weak foreign policy.
He said, “This problem is present in many countries. In 1971, we also took refuge in another country. After the surrender of Pakistan forces on December 16, we came back, though no one forced us. But the Rohingyas who came hear in 2016, are still here. It’s because of the government’s weak foreign policy.”
He said this while addressing, as the
chief guest, a discussion on, “The way to resolve the crisis in the Rohingya repatriation process” organized by the Bangladesh Democratic Council (BDC) on Wednesday at National Press Club.
Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said, “The Rohingya problem is a national problem. This is not a problem of any political party. To solve this, all should work together. Failure to take appropriate steps to solve the Rohingya problem will create a permanent problem.”
The BNP leader said, “There is no democracy in the country, no rule of law, no independence of the judiciary, but corruption exists. The tendency to go to power, and the tendency to stay in power is acute because it is possible to make billions of money once you get to power without voting.
The meeting was chaired by MA Halim, the President of the organizing organization and the founder of the People’s Health Center at a discussion meeting organized by Krishak Dal leader M Jahangir Alam. Also present the founder of Gonoshasthaya Kendra Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, BNP Vice-Chairman Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan and Joint Secretary General Advocate Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal.
