BSS, Dhaka :
Awami League Advisory Council member and former Railway Minister Suranjit Sengupta alleged on Friday that BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is misleading the nation over Talpatti issue following Bangladesh’s victory in maritime boundary dispute with India.
“Begum Zia has lost balance in her stance following settlement of the case over the maritime boundary dispute and now she has opted for confusing the nation,” he said.
Suranjit Sengupta, a senior parliamentarian of the ruling Awami League, said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
Bangabandhu Academy organised the discussion on current politics at the auditorium of the Diploma Engineers Institution at Kakrail in the capital with its adviser Haji Mohammad Selim, MP in the chair.
Former joint secretary of Awami League (AL) Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, AL assistant secretary Asaduzzaman Durjoy and Bangabandhu Academy secretary general Humayun Kabir Mizi were the discussants, among others.
Suranjit Sengupta said, “It’s the age of globalisation. Everybody knows and watches whatever incident is taking place around the world. For this reason Begum Zia can’t deceit the nation anymore. There is no place for the politics of falsehood and darkness now.”
The senior AL leader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has now emerged as a statesman over the verdict in the country’s sea-limit dispute. “Sheikh Hasina could implement her decisions with courage and political wisdom. She has proved this in regard to the maritime boundary dispute with India.
