The Independence and National Day- 2022 was celebrated at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) here today with colorful programs paying rich tribute to the heroic martyrs of the Great War of Liberation.
Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Hasibur Rashid inaugurated the celebration of the day by hoisting the national flag amid rendering of the national anthem with the sunrise on the campus.
The Vice-chancellor with Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Sarifa Salowa Dina released balloons and pigeons before leading a colorful procession from the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the campus at 9:30 am.
After parading the entire campus, the procession ended in front of the Independence Memorial.
The Vice-chancellor, Pro Vice-chancellor, leaders and officials of all residential halls, institutes and various organizations of the teachers, students, officials and employees of the university attired in colourful dresses participated in the procession. Later, the Vice-chancellor, Pro Vice-chancellor and Treasurer of the university paid homage to the heroic martyred freedom fighters, heroic freedom fighters and martyrs of the Great War of Liberation by placing wreaths at the altar of Independence Memorial.
