Begum Rokeya day observed in Kishoreganj

The nation observed Begum Rokeya Day on Wednesday marking the 140th birth and 88th death anniversary of Begum Rokeya Shakhawat Hossain, the pioneer for women’s rights in the sub continent. Kishoreganj district Women Affairs including district administration arranged a various programmes marking the day. A discussion meeting was held at local Collectorate conference room on Wednesday morning. Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury attended as chief guest while Deputy Director of Women Affairs Department Mamunur Rashid presided over. Civil Surgeon Dr.Mujibur Rahman and ADC (General) Golam Mostafa were attended as special guest.
District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Mohila Awami League district Secretary Bilkis Began Jatiya Mohila Sangstha district Chairman Monsura Zaman Natum and others dignified persons were also present on the occasion. DC Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury said that the government is implementing various programmes to strengthen the position of woman folks in the society, create women leadership and increase women education so that they can advance equally.
Later, The Women Department distributes among five Joyeeta Award (Rokeya Padak), Certificates.
