Unfortunately the Finance Minister has proved himself to be of no consequence. He was in full- blown praise of success of the economy when it was going downhill. But when the country is in a terrible crisis, we find the country is not financially prepared at all to meet the minimum needs of the people who have lost jobs and earnings because of the government’s policy of lockdown.
The government policy of lockdown is failing and the hungry workers are in the streets demanding wages in angry protests.
We are not surprised but the truth is the ministers and others in the government are withdrawing full salaries and financial benefits from the public fund but the hungry people are not getting any share of their own money. They are blamed that the people are demanding and forgetting that they want a share of their money.
But the minister is advising banks to control unnecessary expenses. We are going through a very harsh time and the people are becoming impatient. The ministers should learn to take hardship of the people seriously.
The days of meaningless talks should be over. He should tell the nation what monetary plans he has to mitigate the financial suffering of the people when the people have no jobs and no money
We think that government is still living in a dream world. But the reality is awfully dangerous. Violent chaos is looming large
If it is possible for the Finance Minister to be of any help, then he and others in the government must think how to make the government functional. The government is in control and still does not know how to make lockdown effective
A few doctors, health workers and police have already died from corona pandemic for the unpreparedness of hospitals. The government could not arrange safety of the frontline fighters. So how the loss of lives from the killer disease can be saved?
Our advice is: First arrange recovery of the government as an effective body to understand and to be in charge for dealing with crises caused by the furious contamination of the coronavirus.
The hospitals are still least prepared for the treatment of corona patients. Without the health system fully prepared for dealing with the patients no other step will be effective. It is breaking our hearts to know thousands of people may die for the mismanagement of the government.
So, we urge the government to seek help from The World Health Organisation urgently.
