Since the beginning of this month, the pressure of corona patients has been continuously increasing in the public and private hospitals in the port city. In the meantime, most of the hospitals are full of cowardly patients. Although some ordinary beds are vacant, ICU and HDU beds are not vacant at all in any hospital. Concerned people, including the health department itself, are concerned about the perfection of the bed on the one hand, and the upward transmission figure on the other.
In such a reality of Chattogram, the district administration has taken steps this time. In addition to public hospitals, the capacity of five private medical colleges and hospitals in Chattogram is being enhanced to ensure patient services. . The health department has already sent a letter urging not only the medical colleges but also the private hospitals in the city to increase the number of beds.
A team of the administration visited the Bayzid Marine City and Southern Medical College Hospital in the city yesterday afternoon to check the feasibility. Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Mominur Rahman and District Civil Surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi and others went to the two medical college hospitals on the spot. In the meantime, Marine City Medical College and Hospital has been urged to increase the capacity of Covid services. The hospital has ICU and HDU facilities with central oxygen facilities have been instructed to double, said the district civil surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi.
He said the 250-bed hospital currently has six ICUs and 12 HDUs. It has been asked to double in quick time. Authorities have been asked to send a request if any assistance is required, he added.
