Barishal Education Board (BEB) has suspended result and studentship of 18 HSC examinees for three-years and also suspending one office-assistant for forgery in HSC examination-paper of 2019 formed an investigation committee.
After visiting the BEB office and talking with the officials it was learnt on Monday.
However the accused examinees alleged taking confession by board official under threat and torture and the accused BEB staff denied allegation against him.
Prof. Md. Younus, chairman BEB, acknowledging the facts said Professor Moazzem Hossain, director, Secondary and Higher Education Barishal region will lead a three-member enquiry committee in this connection and asked to submit their report within seven working days from August 12.
BEB Chairman Prof. Yunus said the higher mathematic (Creative Questions-CQ) subject of HSC examination of BEB held on May 14, shifted from May 5, due to cyclonic storm `Fani’. The answered papers were distributed for evaluation to the examiners on May 25.
After marking numbers on more than 3 thousand answered sheets, those sent for scrutiny to Abu Sufian, lecturer, Nalcity Degree College.
During scrutiny it was found that answer sheets of higher maths of 18 examinees were written as same and BEB authourity withheld results of those 18 examinees.
After publishing results on May 17, 2019, those suspected 18 examinees were called to BEB office and asked to write answers of old question papers on August 5, 6 and 7. But they failed to get pass marks.
Then during interrogation one examinee named Nusrat Kabir confessed that with the help of Gobinda Chandra Pal, office assistant of BEB, they changed correct answer-sheets with their examination paper of Higher Mathematics and she gave a written confessional statement.
After that action against the accused 18 examinees and board staff were taken on August 9 and probe committee was formed on August 12, the BEB chairman added.
Prof. Anwarul Azim, one member of the three members’ enquiry committee, said they already started investigation and found that the papers of the accused were marked with secret red-signs. Among the accused18 examinees, five were irregular examinees and two were failed in math of HSC examination held in 2018.
