Beat policing rally against rape, torture held in Nilphamari

Like the rest of the country, ‘anti-rape and torture bit policing rallies’ held throughout Nilphamari District with the slogan ‘Build a safe society, Stop violence against women’. The rally was organized by the district police from 10 am to 12 noon with the help of 64 bits.
Nilphamari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Sahab Uddin presided over the rally at Sarkarpara Eidgah Maidan in the district town. Nilphamari Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mahmud Un Nabi, Nilphamari Municipality Councilor Badsha Alamgir, Awami League leader Nur Islam and women leader Jinnah Rehana Survi spoke on the occasion.
‘Bit policing rallies against rape and torture of women’ were held at 10 places in Saidpur. Additional Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Pal and Oficer in Charge of Saidpur Thana Abul Hasnat Khan addressed the gathering.
People’s Representative of Saidpur Upazila and Municipality, Awami League Leaders and other people of the society addressed the meeting. Besides, SI and ASI were present in the meeting.
Calling on the police to cooperate against violence against women, child marriage, gambling, drugs, rape and terrorism, the speakers said that the police service has now reached the doorsteps of the people. As a result, crime will decrease and social order will prevail.
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman BPM, PPM said the police and the people want to work together. For this the police have to cooperate with information. So that criminal activities do not happen.
“If you come forward with information, we (police) will go ahead with ten hands to provide services,” he said.
Police have reached people’s homes through bit policing services so that crime can be brought down to zero quotas. Rape is punishable by death, the SP said, adding that those who want to express interest in such incidents should know that the death penalty is certain.
In other upazilas of the district, anti-rape and torture bit rallies have been held at the same time.
