Placing a Tk 12.16 lakh crore alternative budget for the fiscal 2018-19 (FY19), Bangladesh Economic Association (BEA) said it is a rational budget for building Bangladesh with the spirit of Liberation War.
“This budget is rational in consideration of the country’s internal economic strengthen, it is morally right and sensible from humanitarian point of view and above all, it is fully implementable,” said BEA president Prof Dr Abul Barakat while placing the budget at a press conference on Saturday. BEA general secretary Dr Jamal Uddin Ahmed and vice-presidents AZM Saleh and Md Abdul Mannan and treasurer Md Mostafizur Rahman Sardar were present at the press conference.Barakat read out the 55-page budget proposal styled “BEA budget proposals for 2018-19 in building Bangladesh with the spirit of Liberation War”.
BEA’s alternative budget is two and a half times higher than the government’s likely budgetary outlay of Tk 4.60 lakh crore for FY19.
