UNB, Dhaka :Wondering whether the BNP quarter wants to bring in a 2008-like government, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday called upon all to be vocal against those BNP-Jamaat men who are now carrying out subversive acts across the country.”I urge all to be united and vocal against those miscreants who are unleashing destructive acts, hurling petrol bombs at buses, CNG-run auto-rickshaws, private cars and other vehicles and thus killing people. Those miscreants should have to be nabbed wherever they are found …we can’t let our country to be destroyed before our eyes,” she said.The Prime Minister was delivering her introductory speech at a meeting with senior officials of the Liberation War Affairs Ministry and its various institutions at its conference room.Recalling the countrywide destructive activities carried out by BNP-Jamaat men before the January-5 polls last year, she said, “Who would have come to power had there been no continuation of the democratic process after that election? An emergency government like that of 2008 or Marshall Law? I don’t know whether they (BNP-Jamaat) again want to bring such a government! But such things are no longer acceptable across the world.”Noting that there is no need to be dependent on others rather to be pro-people, the Prime Minister said, “People are the main strength and their support should be gained.”Hasina said, that there are some people who have failed to form any party, unable to gain public support and do not think welfare of people always aspire for any unconstitutional or emergency government to gain personal benefits.Referring to BNP, the Prime Minister said this political party has been out of parliament after taking a wrong political decision of boycotting the January 5 polls and is now trying to burn the country out of their despair.Mentioning the horrific recent incidents of burning numerous people through hurling petrol bombs by the BNP-Jamaat men, including university students, seven-month pregnant woman, she said, “The BNP-Jamaat men are carrying out such activities as they do not believe in the country’s independence and the Liberation War as their hearts are filled with their Pakistani lords.The Prime Minister urged all to be aware about them and directed the Liberation War Affairs Ministry to widely publicize the true history of the Liberation War.Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque delivered the address of welcome on the occasion. PM’ Principal Secretary Md Abdus Sobhan Sikder, Ministry’s Acting Secretary MA Hannan and PM’s Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri among others, were present at the meeting.
