Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury on Thursday said Bangladesh has positioned itself in the international arena as a successful developing country under the strong and dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
But, a vested quarter is making plot against the country feeling jealous of its successes, she added.
The minister passed the remarks at a function on the occasion of distribution of warm clothes among the students of 82 primary and high schools in Nakla and Nalitabari upazilas in Sherpur district.
Matia said the World Bank had stopped financing construction of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge on alleged corruption, but they have acknowledged Bangladesh as a lower mid-income country.
She urged people to remain alert against conspiracy to kill the image of the country.
Deputy Commissioner Dr A M Parvez Rahim, additional Superintend of Police M Abdul Warish and local Awami League leaders were present on the occasion.
