AKM Fahim Mashroor, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of job site bdjobs.com, was freed hours after arrested on charge of spreading derogatory Facebook status on Prime Minister from the city’s Karwanbazar on Wednesday
“The CEO, who was arrested in a case filed Under Section 57 of the ICT Act, was released after interrogation. Enough evidence to prove the allegations brought against him could not be found in his Facebook account,” said Nazmul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Cyber Security & Crime Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Mashroor was detained for allegedly mocking the Prime Minister and the government on Facebook, he said.
 “Further investigation into the case is going on. Actions will be taken under the Information and Communication Technology Act against him if he is found guilty in the investigation report, he added.
Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) of DMP arrested him from his office, on the 7th floor of Bangladesh Development Bank Limited (BDBL) building in Karwanbazar around 11:3am, according to DMP news.
According to the case statement, he has been accused of creating anarchic situation.
Earlier, Md Sadik, a former Chhatra League mass education secretary of the Dhaka University unit, had filed a case against Fahim on April 22 on charges of defamation of the prime minister on Facebook.
Mashroor launched the job site about 18 years ago. He is also the chief executive of social media Beshto and e-commerce site Ajkerdeal.com.
He is the ex-president of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the country’s biggest platform of the software and information technology from 2013 to 2015.
