Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said Bangladesh has become a role model in different indicators of the education sector including achieving gender parity, student enrolment and reducing drop-out rate. The country is ahead in different indexes of education sector to meet the targets of the Millennium Development Goals by 2015, he told a session of the international education conference ‘Going Global -2014 at Miami Beach Convention Centre organized by British Council, an official release said.
Education Minister of Malaysia Dato Seri Idris Bin Jushoh and senior vice minister for education, culture, sport, science and technical affairs of Japan Kyoko Nishikawa addressed the session with president of Michigan State University Lou Anna Simon in the chair.
While addressing the session, Nahid said, “We have achieved 99 percent student enrolment at primary level by 2012 against MDG target deadline-2015.” The education sector also achieved gender equality up to higher secondary level while MDG target is upto primary level, he added.
