Already winning the ODI series 2-0 in the three-match challenge, the jubilant Bangladesh will take on their African counterpart Zimbabwe in the third and last ODI match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today. The state-owned television channel BTV and the private satellite channel GTV will telecast the match live from the arena at 1.00 pm.
Bangladesh made a flying start as the hosts recorded a resounding 145-run victory over Zimbabwe in the first ODI match at the same venue on November 7.
Bangladesh continued their domination posting an easy 58-run victory over the tourists in the second ODI on November 9 at the same venue and clinched the series with one match in hand. Before today’s match, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe faced each other 65 ODI times. Of them, Bangladesh posted 37 victories while Zimbabwe won in 28 matches.
Captain of Zimbabwe Elton Chigumbura said, “One can’t lose hope. We still have to play our best. We have to fight back and make sure that we take lessons from previous mistakes to win the game.”
New sensation Mustafizur Rahman hinted that they would play in the last match for clean sweep.
Mustafizur Rahman said, ” We shall try our best for whitewash. It will be decided tomorrow (Wednesday). Our start is good. I hope to give a good finish.”
He said, ” I feel normal. I am happy and my teammates are also happy. We won three consecutive series.”
Mustafizur Rahman bagged 21 wickets in eight ODI matches. He showed gimmick in the international level by his extra-ordinary performance.
Bangladesh team management will retain the same squad against Zimbabwe in the third ODI. Zimbabwe will also retain their same squad.
