BD-Zimbabwe 1st T20 Int’l match today

After whitewashing Zimbabwe by 3-0 in the three-match ODI series, the highly motivated Bangladesh National Cricket team will take on Zimbabwe National Cricket team in the first Twenty20 International cricket match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today. BTV and GTV will telecast the match live from the arena at 5.00 pm.
Before today’s match, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe met each other in only one Twenty20 International Cricket match. Bangladesh played against Zimbabwe in the lone T20 International match at the Khulna Divisional Stadium in Khulna on November 28, 2006.
Bangladesh recorded an easy 43-run victory in that game. Captain of Bangladesh National Cricket team Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said, ” The ensuing two T20 matches against Zimbabwe are very important for us. Besides, the match of T20 format is a different type of game. T20 match is anybody’s game. We want to form our best T20 squad after playing against Zimbabwe.”
He said, ” Shakib Al Hasan and Soumya Sarkar are eligible players for T20 game. Besides, Taskin Ahmed and Rubel Hossain could not perform against Zimbabwe. We may experiment to form our T20 squad, but we shall play tomorrow (Friday) for win against Zimbabwe.”
Captain of Zimbabwe National Cricket team Elton Chigumbura said, “We became frustrated after losing the ODI series 3-0. But T20 match is a different type of game. It is anybody’s game. So, the team which will bat well in the T20 match, they can earn the victory.”
He said, ” We shall change our batting order in T20 matches to win the game. We want to forget our sorrow after posting victory in T20 match.”
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board did not make any change in the ODI squad of Bangladesh, who play in the third ODI squad against Zimbabwe.
