A Bangladeshi young man was beaten to death allegedly by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Putkhali frontier here early Saturday.
The identity of the deceased, aged around 35, could not be known immediately.
Alauddin, in-charge of Putkhali camp of BGB-23, said BSF troops from Angrail camp chased off a group of Bangladeshi cattle traders and caught one of
them while they were returning to the country through Putkhali border with cattle in the early hours of Saturday.
Later the BSF members beat up the Bangladeshi cattle trader mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot and dumped the body near Charer Math area along the border.
Being informed by locals, police and BGB recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of a local hospital.
A letter was sent to BSF protesting the killing.
