Bangladesh did not get back USD 66.37 million of the stolen money of $ 101 million from Bangladesh Bank reserve till now.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith disclosed this while responding to a question of M Abdullah from Laxmipur-4 constituency in the Parliament on Tuesday.
Of the total money, he said, $ 20 million was reimbursed from Sri Lanka to the Federal Reserve Bank, New York.
Of the $ 81 million that went to the Philippines, $ 14.63 million has been deposited in the Federal Reserve Bank, New York in Bangladesh Bank’s account, he added.
“Till now $ 66.37 million of the stolen money is yet to be found out,” the Finance Minister said the House.
He said that to realise the money, Bangladesh Bank, Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit, Finance Ministry, Office of the Attorney General, Foreign Ministry and Criminal Investigation Department of police are working together.
“To realise the rest of the stolen money legal initiatives are going on in the Philippines,” he said.
