BD works to achieve SDGs thru expanding inclusive business: Humayun

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Sunday said Bangladesh has taken own strategic plan to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through expanding inclusive business.
“After attaining successfully the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Bangladesh is now working to achieve SDGs. The gradual growth in the educational sector will play a vital role in this regard,” he said while inaugurating the “2nd International Conference on Inclusive Business 2019” at a hotel in the city.
Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DBCCI) and SNV Netherlands Development Organization jointly organised the conference.
Humayun said Bangladesh is moving fast to the development highway under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the country has turned into an attractive destination for investment in line with the industrial-friendly policies.
“For attracting the local and foreign investment, Bangladesh is establishing 100 economic zones, deep sea port, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and Padma Multipurpose Bridge. So, the work for an attractive environment has already started and is going great gun in the country,” he added.
Humayun said inclusive business has been expanded as the Industries Ministry is playing a big role as a facilitator and new industries are being established through using area-based raw materials.
DBCCI President Faruque Hassan presided over the function while Dutch Ambassador to Bangladesh Harry Verweij and Swedish Ambassador in Dhaka Charlotta Schlyter, among others, were present.
