UNB, Dhaka :
Bangladesh has sought British government’s initiative to bring back its visa office to Dhaka from New Delhi to
help boost people-to-people contact and business ties between the two countries.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed raised the issue when British High Commissioner in Dhaka Alison Blake met him at his Secretariat office on Monday. “The British visa office had been operating in Dhaka since Bangladesh’ s independence. But it was suddenly shifted to New Delhi 18 months back. As a result, Bangladeshi visa seekers, especially the businesspeople are facing difficulties for it,” said the Commerce Minister.
He sought cooperation of the British High Commissioner in bringing back the visa office in Dhaka, according to a PID handout. They also discussed airport security and investment issues during the meeting.
Tofail laid emphasis on boosting trade and investment between the two countries.
